A new discussion on the internet is going on with a viral image that shows resemblance in Indian National Congress Hand Symbol and Islamic Panja. Many users are saying Indira Gandhi took the hand symbol from the Islamic Holy Symbol as Congress wanted to appease the community.
Panja Alam represent the hand of Abul Fazl Abbas, the step- brother of Imam Hussain ( the loved grandson of Prophet Mohammad). Abul hands were chopped by the Yazid’s Army in the battle of Karbala, when he went to get water from branch of River Euphrates – Nahr-e-Furat for the thirsty children in the camp of Imam Hussain.
Some factions refers Panja alam as a heavy metal hand shape carved with intricate figurines and engravings. It is carried on the top of a flag in Shia Muslim ceremonies like Muhurram marking the martyrdom of Imam Husain along with others who fought alongside him at the battle of Karbala.
