Bihar Passes Bill for 65% Caste Quota

The Bihar Assembly unanimously passed reservation amendment bill for SCs, STs, OBCs, and EBCs in state jobs and educational institutions to 65%.

Before it is law, the bill have to be signed off by Governor Rajendra Arlekar.

Under this bill, SCs will have 20 percent reservation, OBCs 18%, EBCs 25%, STs 2%

Earlier last week, Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that BJP remains 'open to the nation-wide caste census idea' as long as 'due diligence is done'.
