YSR Telangana Party chief YS Sharmila will not contest the upcoming assembly elections. Instead he has decided to support Congress. Voting will be held in Telangana on 30 November and the results will be declared on 3 December. Sharmila, younger sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, said she has decided to extend her support to the Congress to prevent division of votes in the elections, leading to Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao may benefit.
Sharmila, daughter of former Congress chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy, launched the YSRTP in 2021 to bring the YSR family, or ‘Rajanna Rajyam’, to Telangana, in which both she and her party are electorally untested. However, to register her presence in the state, she set out on a 3,800 km statewide march.
This time many big changes are being seen in the Telangana Assembly elections. Two sitting BJP MPs, G Kishan Reddy and K Laxman, who faced defeat in the Telangana assembly elections, have been refrained from fielding candidates in the assembly elections to be held on November 30. BJP released the list of 35 candidates for the assembly elections, the names of both the leaders are not in this list.
