Before the upcoming assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, political parties are leaving no stone unturned to register their presence. In this connection, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi addressed an election rally in Damoh, Madhya Pradesh. He said, BJP government has given only 21 jobs in three years. If we come to government, we will stop migration. He criticized the 18-year tenure of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and said that no significant development has taken place due to it. He claimed that the government favored big industrialists, while burdening small businesses with the Goods and Services Tax (GST), leading to the decline of small industries. The Congress leader also said that farmers have not got any relief under BJP rule.
Bundelkhand is considered to be the most backward area of Madhya Pradesh. Problems like unemployment, malnutrition, illiteracy, migration are more prevalent in Bundelkhand as compared to other areas of the state. For show, every election in Bundelkhand is fought on these issues, but just before voting, the issue of caste starts dominating. It is said that castes have more influence than parties in Bundelkhand. Voters divided into castes are seen standing with the candidates of their respective caste and community. More or less, the same scenario may prevail in the November 2023 elections also. Due to caste equations, along with BJP and Congress, Samajwadi Party and BSP are also showing their strength in this area. BJP had performed brilliantly here in the 2018 assembly elections. Priyanka Gandhi said that this government waives the loan of Adani but does not waive the money of the farmers. They do not want to conduct caste census.
